Edit Modes

Qubicle Constructor provides three edit modes - model-edit-mode, matrix-edit-mode and slice-edit-mode.

Model-Edit-Mode

Model-Edit-Mode

Use the model-edit-mode to

  • Create, move and modify cube matrices
  • Import data
  • Export cube matrices
  • Render

The only enabled tool is the Move Tool. Use the move tool to

  • Select a single matrix by clicking its content or its bounding box
  • Select multiple matrices by dragging a selection rectangle. Every cube matrix that is completely or partially within the selection rectangle is selected
  • Move selected matrices with the move arrows

Use the matrix-edit-mode to

  • Edit cubes of a single matrix in 3D
  • Apply modifier on selected cubes
  • Extrude a slice
  • Select a slice for slice-edit-mode

All tools are available in the matrix-edit-mode

  • Use the Move Tool to move selected cubes
  • Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool to select cubes by dragging a selection rectangle
  • Use the Pencil Tool to paint or add cubes
  • Use the Eraser Tool to erase cubes
  • Use the Paint Bucket Tool to fill cubes with the foreground color
  • Use the Rectangle Tool to drag a rectangle. All cubes within this rectangle are filled with the foreground color
  • Use the Magic Wand Tool to select a region of cubes
  • Use the Eyedropper Tool to pick a fore- or background color

Slice-Edit-Mode

Use the slice-edit-mode to

  • Edit cubes on a slice of the active cube matrix

All tools are available in the matrix-edit-mode

  • Use the Move Tool to move selected cubes
  • Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool to select cubes on the slice by dragging a selection rectangle
  • Use the Pencil Tool draw cubes
  • Use the Eraser Tool to erase cubes
  • Use the Paint Bucket Tool to fill cubes on the slice with the foreground color
  • Use the Rectangle Tool to draw a rectangle with the foreground color
  • Use the Magic Wand Tool to select a region of cubes on the slice
  • Use the Eyedropper Tool to pick a fore- or background color

Switching Edit Modes

To switch from model-edit-mode to matrix-edit-mode

  • Double-click a matrix

To switch from matrix-edit-mode to model-edit-mode

  • Double-click on an empty space of the workarea

To switch from matrix-edit-mode to slice-edit-mode and vice versa

  • Tab [ SPACE ]

You can also switch edit modes for a selected matrix by

  • clicking on the corresponding button of the Edit Mode Palette
  • or by using the keyboard shortcuts [ 1 ] for model-edit-mode [ 2 ] for matrix-edit-mode and [ 3 ] for slice-edit-mode.
