Slice Picking

A slice is a 3D layer of a matrix. It has two properties, a slice number and a viewing direction. Slice picking can be done in multiple ways.

Current Slice Number and Viewing Direction Indicators

Current Slice Indicator

The current slice and the current viewing direction is indicated by the slice palette. It is visible in the matrix-edit-mode and in the slice-edit-mode. Less accurate but very helpful is the current slice indicator in matrix-edit-mode.

Picking a Slice with the Slice Control

In matrix-edit-mode you can use the slice-control to easily change the viewing direction and the slice number. The slice control is automatically hidden. To show it press and hold [ SPACE ]. You can click and drag on the wide borders around the matrix to change the slice number and the viewing direction. While you are dragging, the cubes on the current slice are highlighted.

Changing the Slice with the Slice Scrollbar

Slice Scrollbar

The slice scrollbar is located at the right side of the workarea. It is visible in matrix-edit-mode and in slice-edit-mode. You can drag it to change the slice number. The top position of the scrollbar is the last slice and the bottom position is the first slice. While you are changing the slice with the slice scrollbar the slice control is shown.

To quickly change the slice press [ SPACE ] and scroll the mouse wheel

Changing the Viewing Direction with the Slice Palette

Click on one of the six buttons FRONT BACK LEFT RIGHT TOP BOTTOM to change the viewing direction accordingly.
